Organizational History

Partners In Employment is a not for profit organization with locations in Perth and Huron Counties, providing support services for individuals with employment challenges, to obtain and maintain employment.

Date of Incorporation: November 26, 1992. Partners in Employment has been operating in the Stratford area for over 20 years and are overseen by a Volunteer Board of Directors.

Partners In Employment has local Employment Facilitators to assist individuals to overcome employment challenges. We help persons to find employment in an effort to meet the employers needs and also meet the needs of the individual. Partners in Employment offers services in Stratford, Listowel, Wingham, St. Marys, Seaforth, Clinton, Goderich and Exeter. Staff also travel to Mitchell and Milverton as required. Increasing service to meet the demands of those who seek employment in their home communities has been a priority.

We have worked hard to maintain our credibility with our Employer Base. This growing database represents 2000+ area businesses. This group characterizes a diverse cross section of the employers in our region.

Diverse funding has provided Partners in Employment staff with an awareness and sensitivity to the needs of Employment Equity target groups and the rural community. Beneficiaries of this awareness and sensitivity are unemployed persons who become employed, employers that have their employment needs filled and the community as a whole by enjoying a lower unemployment rate.

Heather Marcy

Heather Marcy

President

I am a retired teacher and principal whose career included Kindergarten - Grade 12 in both Huron and Perth counties.

My favourite thing about Partners in Employment is how inclusive it is; everyone is welcome regardless of their background and life circumstances.

Connie Birmingham

Director/Past President

Having been an administrator and teacher of students in special education, I recognized the need for them and many adults in the community to have a scaffold to be successful entering the workforce.

The Perth County Planning group, to which I was appointed by the Huron Perth Catholic School Board, gave me the opportunity to gather other like minded individuals to plan for employment for any persons who needed assistance entering the workforce.

The result was the founding of Partners in Employment, a non-profit organization with charitable status. We designed it to be a welcoming, respectful, positive and problem-solving space to encourage job seekers to be successful in their job search.

I chaired the organization for the first several years and watched our collective vision become a reality. I have remained on the Board for over thirty years to see our expansion to Huron County and securing a contract to serve all persons in in Perth County seeking employment, not just those with barriers. I am proud to stay on the board as it’s founder and have welcomed many likeminded visionaries to the Board over the years to our unique vision of employment for all.

Joe Gladding

Joe Gladding

Director

As a lifelong resident of Stratford I have a great interest in giving back to this community.

I work in the field of addictions and mental health and spend a considerable amount of time with individuals experiencing homelessness. Through all this work I see unemployment and underemployment as a major factor in these people's lives.

For me getting involved with Partners In Employment felt like the right thing to do.

Lindsay Chandler

Lindsay Chandler

Director

After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Neumann University in 2006, Lindsay worked as an Intensive Case Manager at the Crozer Keystone Community Hospital in the suburbs of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Lindsay moved back to her hometown of Stratford Ontario in 2007 with hopes to continue her career in the mental health sector.

Lindsay was hired by CMHA Huron Perth in 2009 and has enjoyed taking on different roles within the agency over the years, facilitating Recreational Programs, Community Education Lead, and Coordinating the Transitional Housing Program. Supporting people with their mental health journey is a passion of Lindsay’s and what ultimately lead her to joining the Partners In Employment Board of Directors.

Lindsay values her volunteer experiences within the community, previously coaching and training for minor hockey in Stratford as well as volunteering with the St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dog Program, with her beloved Black Lab – Tessa.

Lindsay is the proud mother of two and enjoys spending her time with family and friends whenever possible.  Being outdoors, yoga and exploring and playing with her children are the things that fulfill Lindsay the most!

Frank Moore

Frank Moore

Director

Longtime resident of Huron County, Frank Moore has worked and volunteered in the ‘Community Living’ movement for more than 40 years.

Frank is committed to a vision that all people live in dignity and share in all aspects of living in their community, which includes the opportunity to be gainfully employed.

It is Franks belief that no other organization better achieves this goal than Partners in Employment.

Diverse funding has provided Partners in Employment staff awareness and sensitivity to the needs of Employment Equity target groups and the rural community. Beneficiaries of this awareness and sensitivity are unemployed people who become employed, employers that have their employment needs filled and the community as a whole by having a higher employment rate.
